University College Cork announce agreement to sell the Irish Management Institute to the Kilcullen Business Post Group
New investment will enable IMI to grow into the future and broaden its executive and leadership development proposition at a critical time for the Irish economy
University College Cork (UCC) and the Irish Management Institute (IMI) have announced that the Kilcullen Business Post Group (K-BPG) is to acquire the IMI business. The Group has plans to develop and grow the executive education and leadership institution once it becomes part of the Group’s stable of business services brands. IMI staff were briefed on the development earlier today and advised that they will transfer to the Kilcullen Business Post Group once the transaction completes.
Today’s announcement marks a significant moment for organisations on the island of Ireland, ensuring that IMI is well positioned to continue to inform, educate and support business and service provider communities across both the private and public sectors.
Established in 1952, IMI has been providing globally ranked executive education for decades. Its long association with UCC has contributed to its growth. The acquisition by the Kilcullen Business Post Group will build on this legacy through investment and alignment with an industry leader in media, communication, and research – all pillars of learning excellence.
Prof. John O’Halloran, President of University College Cork, stated: “We are pleased to announce this new chapter in IMI’s history. As part of the Kilcullen Business Post Group, IMI will be positioned to continue shaping and inspiring leaders in a fast-moving business environment.”
Enda O’Coineen, Publisher and CEO of the Kilcullen Business Post Group, stated that this investment forms part of his Group’s strategic plans.
“IMI is one of Ireland’s iconic business brands. It has been the beating heart of executive education and leadership in Ireland over the past 73 years, is an engine in the Irish success story and is now ready to go to its next stage of development.”
“This acquisition complements our group vision in delivering daily world class Content (BusinessPost.ie), Experiences (iQuest.ie), Insights (RedCResearch.com) and now Executive Education (IMI.ie). It will be a dynamic driver, supported by existing business services, in realising the Group’s Irish and global vision through technology and people.”
“We would like to thank UCC for their stewardship of IMI over the last ten years. As we bring the strong IMI team forward to its next stage of development in world class executive education serving business, UCC will continue to award IMI qualifications as the business transitions to new awarding arrangements.”
Dr. Pamela Byrne, Chairperson of the IMI Board, commented: “Building on the partnership with UCC, IMI looks forward to an exciting journey of growth and business excellence under Kilcullen Business Post Group.”
